SOG Blor 40 Audio Five Small Shifts That Can Help You Rebuild Your Energy

When our energy begins to change, our first instinct is often to look for a bigger solution.

A better routine.

A better supplement.

A better plan.

We tell ourselves that if we could just find the right answer, we'd finally feel like ourselves again.

But after 50, rebuilding your energy often has less to do with doing more and more to do with paying closer attention.

I've come to believe that the biggest changes usually begin with the smallest ones.

Not dramatic changes.

Honest ones.

Here are five that are worth noticing.

1. Pay attention to the first hour of your day.

Before you reach for your phone or begin your to-do list, notice how you actually feel. Do you wake up rested? Rushed? Already tired? The first hour often tells us more about our energy than we realize.

2. Notice when your body feels its best.

Many women focus on the times they feel exhausted. Try noticing the opposite. When do you feel most alert? What have you eaten? How well did you sleep? What have you been doing? Sometimes those moments reveal just as much.

3. Protect the hour before you go to bed.

The way we end the day often shapes the way we begin the next one. A quieter evening, fewer screens, or even a few moments with a book or journal can help prepare both the body and the mind for rest.

4. Pay attention to what leaves you feeling drained.

Not every kind of tired comes from doing too much. Some conversations, commitments, and responsibilities quietly take more from us than we realize. Others leave us feeling lighter. Learning the difference is part of learning ourselves.

5. Rest before you're completely exhausted.

This may be the hardest shift of all. Many of us were taught that rest is something we earn after everything else is finished. But waiting until we're completely depleted often means we're always trying to catch up instead of staying well.

None of these shifts is complicated.

That's what makes them powerful.

This season of life rarely asks us to become someone different.

More often, it asks us to become more aware.

To notice what our bodies have been trying to tell us.

To respond with curiosity instead of criticism.

Small changes made with consistency can have a quiet but lasting impact.

Not because they're dramatic.

Because they're sustainable.

And sometimes that's exactly where lasting change begins.

If this reflection resonated with you, I have created a workbook, You're Not Tired, You're Depleted: A 7-Day Midlife Energy Reset for Women 50+, to help you learn to manage your energy with greater awareness and care.

Which of these five shifts feels most important to you right now? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
