Why “Someday” Keeps Stretching
There comes a time in our fifties when we look around and realize how much of our lives were spent doing what needed to be done. We raised families, worked hard, cared for others, and kept moving because life required it. Somewhere along the way, a few dreams slipped quietly into the background. We told ourselves, “Someday,” and kept going.
But “Someday” has a way of stretching into years.
Stepping Forward Before You Feel Ready
When I decided to put myself out there to learn new tech, create videos, and write children’s books, I felt a mix of fear and curiosity. I wondered if I was too old or too late. I worried about what people might think. I questioned whether anyone needed to hear from me at this stage.
But underneath all of that was another truth:
If not now, when?
The first time I took a step toward doing something just for me and putting myself out there, I must admit, I was scared because I did not feel ready. However, I felt empowered. I realized I didn’t need to be polished or have everything figured out. I just needed to show up for myself. That one step reminded me that I’m still capable of growing, learning, and becoming.
If you’re over 50 and thinking about something you’ve always wanted to try, I hope you hear this clearly: now is the time.
You Don't Have to be Perfect
Not to be perfect. Not to impress anyone. But to make new memories and follow the dreams you set aside because life needed you somewhere else.
Putting yourself out there after 50 isn’t about chasing big achievements. It’s about honoring the parts of you that waited patiently while you took care of everything else. It’s about giving yourself permission to dream, learn, and explore again.
This space, Seasons of Growth, is where we’ll talk about the fears, the small steps, the quiet courage, growth, and the new possibilities that still exist for us, 50 and older.
Welcome.
You’re not too old to grow. You’re not out of time. You’re right on time.
